The davismug mailing list is a tool for communication between users of Macintosh computers. To post a message to the list, send email to davismug@list.dcn.davis.ca.us YOU MUST BE SUBSCRIBED TO THE LIST IF YOU WANT TO POST TO THE LIST To subscribe or unsubscribe to the list, visit the mailman page for this list - it is located here The Details of List Ettiquette This list is a place to ask for help, express opinions, and share experiences regarding Macintosh computers and software etc. This list is ONLY for things directly related to Macintosh computing. Do not send virus warnings to the list, they are usually hoaxes with no merit. Macintosh viruses are so rare as to be non-existent. Use clear and easy-to-interpret subject lines for your messages A good example of a subject line might be "Laserwriter NT Paper Jam" A bad example would be "Help, I can't print", or worse yet, "HELP" When you explain a particular problem, tell the list as much relevant detail as you can, this might include such things as computer model, RAM configuration, operating system, software version, or other relevant points which might help us help you solve the problem. Also tell us what you have already done to try to solve the problem. Nobody wants to help someone who does't try to help themselves. This list is unmoderated, which means that anyone who is subscribed to the list may say anything to the other members of the list. We expect that everybody will be civil and polite and strive for a good quality of information dialogue. Don't make work for the List Mom. Please keep personal or off-topic discussions off the list, and please minimize the "thank you" and "me too" comments. If you have personal comments to make to a list member, send them in private email. When you reply to a message, trim the irrelevant information from the previous posting, this might include footers, signatures or other extraneous information. Strive for brevity. Long email messages are normally tedious. Please place your reply AFTER the message you are responding to. This makes it easier for others to follow the thread of discussion by reading naturally down to the current dialog. Please do not use html email; it is hard to read with some mail programs. Plain text email can be read by everyone. Again, please do not use html email. Let's strive for a good signal-to-noise ratio on this list. Again, welcome to the davismug list! Using davismug
To post a message to all the list members, send email to davismug@list.dcn.davis.ca.us. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to davismug
Subscribe to davismug by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
